SKULSKI ART GALLERY FEATURING MARCIE COOPERMAN

          The Skulski Art Gallery of the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark, NJ, is pleased to present works by Marcie Cooperman from May 14 through 28, 2010. 

            Please join us for the opening reception and to meet the artist on Friday, May 14, 2010, 8:00 – 10:30 p.m., admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

            MARCIE COOPERMAN paints natural subjects in a combination of representative and abstract styles.  The composition and color relationships are the drivers of each piece.  Her medium ranges from gouache to oil to acrylics.

            In the academic world, Marcie Cooperman is recognized as an expert in Color Theory.  She is currently writing a textbook called Color and How to Use It, for Pearson Prentice Hall.  She is a Professor at Parsons School of Design, lectures on color theory at management seminars of corporations such as the hair color and makeup leader L’Oreal, and teaches at the Newark Museum.  She is a former Professor of Color Theory at Pratt Institute in Manhattan.

            Her artworks have been commissioned since 1989 by designers and institutions such as Memorial Sloane-Kettering, Robert Woods Johnson Pavilion, Riverside Square Mall, Garden State Plaza, movie theaters, retailers corporations, hair salons and restaurants, as well as the Kips Bay Showhouse 2005.

            “Color is special; colors together are mesmerizing and hypnotic.  Iridescent combinations of colors fascinate me, like birds’ feathers, oil slicks, and opals.  I want to create those colors in each of my paintings.  Whether my subject matter is abstract or representational, there will always be rainbows of hues sparkling through somewhere.  The sensuous quality of my paintings comes from the colors working with each other to make the skies, leaves and branches, and underwater creatures live on the paper or canvas.  All of these natural subjects can offer the opportunity to show off relationships of color “, says Marcie Cooperman.

          Galeria Skulskiego Polskiej Fundacji Kulturalnej w Clark, New Jersey ma zaszczyt prezentować malarstwo Marcie Cooperman od 14 do 28 mają. Zapraszamy wszystkich na wernisaż wystawy i spotkanie z artystką w piątek 14 maja, 2010 od godziny 20:00 do 22:30. Wstęp wolny, lampka wina, przekąski.

          Marcie Cooperman maluje głównie naturalistyczne tematy w klasycznej kombinacji z domieszką abstrakcyjnego stylu. Kompozycja i współdziałanie koloru są silą każdego jej obrazu. Artystka posługuje się gwaszem, olejem i akrylem.

          W świecie akademickim Marcie Cooperman znana jest jako ekspert teorii koloru. Obecnie pracuje nad podręcznikiem pt. „Color and How to Use it” dla Pearson Prentice Hall. Obecnie jest profesorem w prestiżowej szkole artystycznej Parsons School of Design w Nowym Jorku, mając wykłady na temat teorii koloru. Prowadzi także seminaria dla takich korporacji jak L’Oreal, a także zajęcia w Newark Museum. Oprócz tego wykłada teorię koloru w Pratt Institute na Manhattanie. O kolorze mówi: - Kolor jest czymś wyjątkowym. Kolory razem działają hipnotycznie. Kolory odblaskowe fascynują mnie, tak jak ptasie pióra, błyszczące, gładkie opale. Chce kreować takie kolory w każdym obrazie. Nie jest ważne czy mój obraz jest abstrakcyjny czy naturalistyczny, bo zawsze gdzieś tam będą błyszczeć odcienie tęczy. Te delikatne i zmysłowe wartości w moich obrazach pochodzą od kolorów współgrających ze sobą, które tworzą kolor nieba, liścia, gałęzi czy też podwodnych stworzeń, żyjących na papierze czy płótnie. Wszystkie te przedmioty natury mogą oferować możliwości pokazania współgrania kolorów.

Polska Fundacja Kulturalna jest organizacją non-profit.
